Design Spotlight: Venetti Engagement Rings

Designing fine jewelry is an art; each and every Master Jeweler is an artist in their own way. And just like traditional artists, these designers have free rein to do whatever they can imagine. This is one of the most exciting aspects of designing fine jewelry- the creation of one-of-a-kind masterpieces. Once a jeweler pictures an idea in their head, they can execute it flawlessly, with time and effort. And many jewelers have a specific signature to set them apart from all of the others. One particular designer we’re interested in is Herzl Lary, CEO and designer for Venetti. Why are we so interested in Herzl, you ask? Well, for starters, his designs are immaculate. If you’ve never seen any of his Venetti engagement rings, you have to check them out.

But there is one key detail about his designs that is the most intriguing: the use of hidden rubies. On every one of Herzl’s Venetti engagement rings there is a small ruby set on the inside of the band. Yes, the inside, seen in the picture below.

What’s up with the hidden ruby in Venetti engagement rings?

Now, you might be wondering:

“What the heck is the point of setting a ruby on the inside of an engagement ring band?”

And that’s a reasonable question. Clearly, it’s not for aesthetic purposes since you can’t see it unless you’re looking for it. So, what could it be?

Just like you, we were curious, so we decided to ask Herzl ourselves. And the answer we received was actually very poetic. Herzl himself puts it best:
